1 Closed accounts are primarily due to people being incorrectly enrolled or being ineligible for enrolment, or a provider initiated closure, for example due to the death of a member.

2 Figures are provisional, Inland Revenue is currently reconciling final payments. Figures are gross and do not include payments refunded by providers to Inland Revenue.

NB: For the period 1 April 2008 to 31 March 2009 employers were able to claim a tax credit of up to $20 per week per employee to offset the cost of their employer contributions. From 1 April 2009, the ETC was no longer available for employers. In the period from 1 July 2008 to 31 December 2008, employers received $122.2 million in tax credits from the Crown. This figure will rise as more employer contributions are processed.
