Number of active/provisional members by scheme entry method
This graph shows three lines, plotting increases of active or provisional KiwiSavers members who joined a scheme through:
- active choice,
- automatic enrolment to an employer’s chosen scheme, or
- automatic enrolment to a default scheme.
The vertical axis of this graph shows the cumulative total of enrolled KiwiSaver members in each scheme entry method. The horizontal axis shows data from June 2008 to June 2017.
- Between June 2008 and June 2017, the number of active/provisional members who joined a scheme through active choice increased, from 352 thousand to 2 million.
- Between June 2008 and June 2017, the number of active/provisional members automatically enrolled to an employer’s nominated scheme increased, from 95 thousand to 201 thousand.
- Between June 2008 and June 2017, the number of active/provisional members automatically enrolled to a default scheme increased, from 269 thousand to 573 thousand.
