You can contribute 3%, 4% or 8% of your before-tax pay. Changing your rate is easy.
There are only limited circumstances where you can completely stop contributing to KiwiSaver, but you could consider taking a break with a contributions holiday.
If you're an employee, once you've been a member for 12 months you can take a break from saving - this is called a contributions holiday.
You can stop making contributions to your KiwiSaver when you reach your end payment date. This is when you reach 65 and have been a member for at least 5 years.
